Day one of my three-day weekend. Trying out a new home office configuration. So far, bigger monitor and ergo keyboard=Win. Chair=Fail.
Yay! Caught up at day job. My office has been plague-ridden these last couple weeks. My fellow editors have been out sick, and as a result, we’d fallen behind on the page proofs. But folks are recovering and we’re caught up. So I can dedicate more time to “Mortal Clay, Stone Heart.”
Yesterday: completed editing pass #2, hubby first-readered it, and as a result I cut 600 words(!). <--That's the reason he's my eternal first reader. He confirmed a feeling I had about a couple scenes but was waffly about, making me feel better about slashing them to bits. Pass #3 underway. Getting closer to fork sticking. [Edit: Sigh. I spoke too soon. A new batch of page proofs came in, and the editorial intray once again overfloweth. Snartleblast.]
Words: +100 and -100 (different ones) on “Mortal Clay, Stone Heart.” Editing pass one done, pass two underway, then it’s off for critique. Also, heard back from the editors, and they said my story length is a-ok. Whew!
Got awakened at 2:30AM by Hobkin grousing “lil help already!” while trying to climb up beside me. Seems the hubby moved the doggie steps…
Words: -600 on “Mortal Clay, Stone Heart” and almost done with the first revision pass, but I’m still 600 words over. Think I need to ask the editors how hard that maximum word length in the guidelines is…
My cameo for Scott M. Sandridge’s podcast novel, The Silverblade Prophecy, is now up (ep. 14). Listen for me as Imana!
Why is my itch to write inversely proportional to the amount of writing time I have? Did I kick puppies in a previous life or something? Gah!
The page proofs are starting to come in at my day job. Looks like I’ll be buried all this week. And “Mortal Clay, Stone Heart” is still only at zero draft. *sob*
Watching Dragon*Con Film Festival slush with the hubby, something I assiduously try to avoid. How did this happen??
Hobkin is officially blowing his coat. The Furminator helps tons (thank you aimeempayne!), but there are still tufts of undercoat fuzz drifting throughout the house. Wonder if the vacuum cleaner will survive.
