Dragon*Con 2011 in the Rearview Mirror

Think I’m mostly resurrected from my Dragon*Con undeadness. Spent most of last week asleep, in a dazed fog, or contemplating the mounting to-do items with a bleary sense of alarm. But despite being whammied by con crud and having a few stabbity-urgeful moments (I embrace my wrath, ooohmm), I had a great time. Continue reading

Requiem Duet, Concerto for Flute and Voodoo now out in Daily Science Fiction

Hurray! My short story, “Requiem Duet, Concerto for Flute and Voodoo,” was published by Daily Science Fiction today. Subscribe to this excellent publication, read, and comment at their FB page!

Slowly coming back to life after Dragon*Con. Had eyeball-deep chaos, had mega stress, had hella good time. Longer post later. Maybe. Still shambling back to life. (Don’t know why, but it seems that I always have something come out while I’m immersed in—or in this case, recovering from—Dragon*Con.)

F is for Foster (and Fabian and Frohock)

Erin M. Hartshorn is spotlighting an A to Z of women writers in science fiction and fantasy, and this week I’m up with “F” (along with Karina Fabian and Teresa Frohock). Erin has some very nice things to say about “Biba Jibun” in her review:

I loved this story for the exploration of a world I don’t live in, as well as for the alienation that Rini experienced — an alienation akin to that many of us feel in high school, or even in life, as though we’ll never fit in.

Check out her full review and her A-Z list!

Mortal Clay, Stone Heart (excerpt)

The anthology The Dragon and the Stars is a finalist this year for an Aurora (Canada’s highest science fiction award) in the category of Best English Related Work, so I’m swiping a page from Eric Choi and Derwin Mak’s playbook and publishing an excerpt of my story, “Mortal Clay, Stone Heart,” for folks to consider when they’re casting their votes:

It’s been a while since I sold to one of the Escape Artists stable. Way delighted to have ended that bit of a dry spell. Love love love having my work produced by them.
